Our Heritage
In Memory of Tom “Running Bear” Smith
In Memory of our Founder
Tom “Running Bear” Smith was a Native American from the Western Tribe of the Cherokee Nation in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. When he began Tom Smith Industries, Inc. in 1981, he built the company based on the beliefs of his ancestors: always give more than you take.
Over the next twenty-five years, as his business prospered, he continued to run the company with this same mantra. He, along with his wife, Annette grew the business to be the world-class injection molding facility you have come to know today.
His service and support of many organizations reflect his commitment to minority and women-owned businesses. His word was said to be his bond; today, TSI offers you no less.
The Next Generation of Tom Smith Industries, Inc.
Tom’s granddaughter, Tarra continues to operate the company with the same determination, commitment, ideology, and values set forth by her grandfather.
Tarra ensures that her grandfather’s legacy lives on in the organization and promotes continual partnership efforts with organizations such as the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), WBEC-ORV, The National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC), among other supplier diversity networks.
With over 25 years in the plastic injection industry, she takes pride in continuing the business but also leading it into the future of technology, growth, and innovation.
